We would love to have you join us in celebrating our wedding at the brand new AVA Resort Cancun in Mexico!
Come enjoy a great all-inclusive resort experience where all your meals, and alcohol are included with your stay while you celebrate our wedding with us.
We completely understand the cost to travel and taking time off work may not be achievable for some. Please join us if you are able, but we will gladly accept your warm wishes from afar!
To take care of all your travel plans, we have been working closely with a travel agency that specializes in destination weddings, Avora Destinations. With their help, we have reserved a block of rooms with special group rates at the resort.
We ask that you book your stay directly from this site. Please note the travel information tabs near the bottom of this page-this is where all pertinent travel information can be found including hotel information, reservations, making payments on your trip, as well as booking your transfer to and from the resort.
We are currently holding rooms from November 13-17, 2024; however, you may book any dates you wish through this website (if we are not holding the room, our travel agent will request it be added to our group).
Please note: All guests must be staying at the resort and booked within our group in order to attend our wedding events. We invite you to make your trip to our wedding a vacation of your own as there is a 3-night minimum stay required by the resort.

Thursday, November 14, 2024 - EXCURSION DAY! 1:30-5:30pm (Meet in the main lobby by 11:40am!)
- Join us for an amazing boat day excursion with H2oh Sun Cruises in Mexico aboard the 80-foot Private Yacht Charter - Pura Vida! Snorkeling at Inha Reef, Paddleboards, High Diving, Open Bar, and Lunch provided. As a thank you for coming, the wedding couple has covered the cost of the boat. However, we ask that each guest pay for their docking fee and transportation to and from the marina. This comes to $85/person! Please Venmo to @Thatcherhouser if you would like to join us!

AVA Resort Cancun

Check-in begins at 3pm Guests arriving earlier than 3 pm are welcome to use the resort immediately upon arrival even if their room is not ready. The hotel requires a credit/debit card authorization or cash deposit upon check-in for incidentals; this will place a hold on your funds. Check-out is 11am.
Location: Ava Resort Cancun is only 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport. The address is Blvd. Kukulcán 25.3, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, México.
Currency: Not required, but we recommend exchanging a few USD for Mexican Pesos before the trip. Cash is always useful in foreign countries. US Dollars are widely accepted. Current Exchange Rate: $1 USD = 16.57 MXN. Notify your bank of travel plans to avoid any issues with card transactions.
Wifi: The airport and resort offer free wi-fi service. If your mobile plan does NOT include Mexico, you can leave your phone on Airplane Mode and connect to the wifi to avoid daily charges.
Water: The resorts supply bottled water in all rooms and refill daily. Additionally, the water used to wash vegetables, in ice, and served in restaurants is all filtered water safe to drink.
Travel Tips:
Reminder - Passport is required! If you do not have a passport, you should apply for one ASAP as the process can take months. Find more info here: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/apply.html
If booking flights with connections, we suggest AT LEAST 1 hour layover minimum. Especially, if you are checking bags. AirTags are great for GPS tracking plus peace of mind with luggage.
FYI Cancun, Mexico is 1 hour behind EST time zone. I.e. 3PM in Raleigh, NC is 2PM in Cancun
Upon arrival at Cancun International Airport - everyone should follow signs for Immigration and Customs. Make your way to the baggage claim area to collect your luggage then exit the airport through the glass doors to transportation.
For transportation to Ava Resort Cancun , we suggest booking a pre-arranged car service shuttle from Lomas Travel via our Wedding Website. You will see the Lomas Team (in teal shirts and white pants) holding a sign for our wedding group. Airport taxis can be expensive and scam tourists. Be prepared for many vendors and transport representatives offering various services at the airport. Ubers are available.
Cancun weather in November: Typically warm with daytime temperatures ranging from 75°F to 85°F. Evenings can be cooler. Bring your wedding attire, plus lightweight clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. A light jacket or sweater might be handy for cooler evenings.
